In my previous post I spoke about this fun new running experience, Run To Escape, I was participating in with BibRave. You can read all about the experience there. This post is talking about the final few runs and the experience as a whole.

The Runs

I completed the last of the 6 runs over the last few weeks. I made them a part of training for my upcoming half marathon then ran the final race during my half marathon on May 30th in Coeur d’Alene! It was really fun to make training runs BIGGER than just training runs. It made them something fun and different to look forward to and kept me running the whole distance.

I ran run #5 the Wednesday before my race, completed the puzzle, and then ran my final run to finish the challenge during my half marathon. I almost forgot to start my Runkeeper app, so my tracked run is actually the back half of my race, but at least I remembered! I needed to rest a few days this week so if I had forgotten to track the race experience I would be struggling through a longer run right now on tired legs.

The Finish

There is one final puzzle to solve after your run to enter the finish party! I was able to solve that and actually am going to miss solving puzzles after all my runs. I hope this kind of race experience continues! It truly is something that ADDS to running.

The Afterparty

Once you complete the final puzzle you get to enter into drawings for some pretty epic prizes from Aftershokz, Asics, Knockaround and Runkeeper! You also get recipes for drinks and snacks, some looked pretty tasty. I’ll have to make a few over the next few weeks.

All in all, the run experiences were a fun way to get me on longer runs, challenge my brain and have some fun in a new way to race.
